This represents the moment in life where one is approaching death. While most might see it as a dark and gruesome figure creeping closer to steal the very breath from your body, the young girl imagines it as a grand gate that opens to reveal the blinding rays of enlightenment unknown to the living world. The door is marked with carvings of dragons in the form of Yin and Yang to represent the possibility of good or evil lying beyond the door.
The girl doesn't know which lies beyond the gate, but she looks toward it with optimism.
As always, I'd love any feedback from you guys. I've done quite a bit of growing in the time that I wasn't submitting any serious work, and I hope that's visible to you!
